VRCC AND AMCS HIGH TEA
Vines Road Community Centre teamed up with AMCS for another fabulous High Tea supporting carers of loved ones living with dementia – and what a lovely afternoon it was! 🧡✨

Guests were thoroughly spoilt with delicious food, thoughtful gifts, plenty of laughs, and even a fancy non-alcoholic mimosa, thanks to the amazing Cindy from AMCS.

A massive shout out to the superstar volunteers Petra, Nat, Wendy & Mihai for helping make the day feel so warm, relaxed, fun and special for everyone who attended. We couldn’t do it without you! 🫖🍰🥂
HAPPY NATIONAL VOLUNTEERS WEEK TO OUR INCREDIBLE VOLUNTEERS

Your generosity, kindness, and dedication help make Vines Road Community Centre a welcoming place where people can connect, feel supported, & belong. Through your time, care, and contribution, you help bring our community together & reduce social isolation every day.

Thank you for everything you do – our community is stronger because of you 🧡

KISS Project Exhibition
VRCC proudly hosted the KISS Project Exhibition recently 💛
This touching exhibition – a beautiful initiative from Australian Multicultural Community Services (AMCS) and Celebrate Ageing – celebrates the importance of love and connection for those living with dementia.
Photographer Peter Foster captured truly special moments, and the launch was a wonderful success. Cindy from AMCS hopes this meaningful project will be repeated in the future – and we certainly hope so too! 💕
We won! We won! WE WON! 🎉

Our team at VRCC is absolutely buzzing and deeply honoured to be the recipient of Active Geelong’s 2025 Community Award!

A huge congratulations to our joint winner, Leisure Networks — what an achievement for our community!

Our EO Sally is joined here by Tracey, VRCC’s talented and highly experienced Tai Chi teacher, who has been sharing her skills with our community for nearly 40 years.

This award is more than a trophy… it helps lift VRCC’s profile so more people discover what we do, join in, and connect. And connection is what we’re all about.

A heartfelt thank you to Active Geelong and their sponsors for recognising the work we do in our community, and to everyone who makes VRCC the vibrant, welcoming, award-winning Community Centre it is!

CHRISTMAS IS COMING!

We love Roisin from Opendoor! 😍

In our big space, we need all the Christmas decorations we can get to make VRCC feel festive — and Roisin has delivered in the most beautiful way! She generously volunteered her time to wrap and donate these gorgeous presents. (There’s nothing inside them… but don’t they look fantastic?!)

Opendoor (formerly WCIG) has been a long-term hirer and supporter of VRCC. They empower people in our community through employment assistance, training services, and community development programs — and Roisin is one of their superstars who truly cares about giving back.

Thank you, Roisin, for adding some extra Christmas sparkle to our Centre! 🎁

A huge thank you to Carmen, who recently donated a generous box of medical supplies to help keep our Centre’s first aid kits fully stocked! 🙌

PROGRAM SUPPORTED GEELONG MACHINE EMBROIDERY CLUB

Each year, this dedicated group of women creates something special for a charitable cause. This year, their hearts turned to supporting women in need—those living rough in their cars, on the streets, and in heartbreaking situations due to family violence and abuse.

The group lovingly created 60 beautiful toiletry bags; each filled to the brim with essential women’s toiletries. These thoughtful, handmade gifts will be distributed to women through the Salvation Army in Geelong.

The Club were honoured to welcome Salvation Army Major Dianne Hobbs, who visited the group this week to personally accept the donation. Major Hobbs also shared a heartfelt talk about her work with the homeless and vulnerable in our community, giving the group deeper insight and understanding into the challenges faced by so many.

A big thank you to our passionate volunteer facilitator Maria, whose pride in the group is well deserved. This project has truly been one of love, compassion, and community spirit. 💖

VRCC GARDENING CLUB

Some great fresh veggies growing in our garden beds over winter. Lorna and her team are doing an amazing job!

NAIDOC WEEK 2025

We shared a wonderful morning tea and movie to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2025.  The 2025 theme is “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy”.  We celebrated in our own small way by watching the brilliant film “The Sapphires” together.  This event would not have been possible without the grant funding from COGG and we thank them for their continued support.

AMCS CARER RETREAT DAY

In July, Australian Multicultural Community Services (AMCS) held a retreat day dedicated to spoiling carers of loved ones living with dementia.  Attendees enjoyed mosaic craft, a pampering facial, tai chi, reflexology, the Geelong Jukebox Rockers danced, and Gary Dean sang, not to mention all the delicious food!  This event was seamless and it was so wonderful to see our carer community enjoying a day made just for them.

Well done Cindy and Jeannette and thank you AMCS.

2024 CHRISTMAS MORNING TEA

Close to 200 of our community joined our 2024 Christmas Morning Tea @ VRCC celebration.  Thanks to COGG for funding this annual event and thanks to those that came along for bringing such a great vibe!
